Founder and Executive Director – MWANA N'SENGA

The Founder and Executive Director provides organizational vision, strategic leadership, and guidance to ensure Symbiose remains aligned with its mission, values, and long-term objectives. The Executive Director supports organizational development, oversees implementation of strategic priorities, represents the organization when appropriate, and works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance and sustainability.

Director of Governance and Board Affairs – Sonya Nyanga Ndaka

The Director of Governance and Board Affairs supports the development and maintenance of effective governance practices. This role assists with board processes, policy review, accountability frameworks, compliance monitoring, and ensuring that governance activities align with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

Director of Operations and Organizational Development – Emeric Daye Baroum

The Director of Operations and Organizational Development supports operational planning, organizational improvement, resource coordination, and the implementation of strategic initiatives. This role contributes to ensuring efficient operations, risk management, and continuous improvement across Symbiose programs and services.

Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships – Praise Salawu Oluwadara

The Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships supports relationships with community members, stakeholders, partners, and service networks. This role promotes collaboration, inclusion, accessibility, and meaningful participation of those served by Symbiose while supporting the advancement of the organization’s mission.

Collective Responsibilities of the Board of Directors

  • Providing strategic oversight and responsible governance;
  • Protecting and advancing Symbiose’s mission, vision, and values;
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Canadian and Ontario legislation, regulations, and governance requirements;
  • Promoting transparency, accountability, ethical leadership, and responsible decision-making;
  • Providing oversight of financial management, risk management, and organizational sustainability;
  • Ensuring respect for human rights, accessibility, privacy, safety, and the dignity of all individuals;
  • Supporting meaningful engagement with communities, partners, employees, volunteers, and stakeholders;
  • Maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all governance responsibilities.
